Coastal Region Virtual Showcase - We Are One!!!

19 Apr 2023 by Robert Hassell

On Saturday, April 15th, the Coastal Region came together to host an engaging and heartwarming virtual showcase, with our talented Knights and Gleaners taking center stage. The event, aptly themed “We Are One,” was a testament to the strength and beauty of unity. Our regional branches and councils collaborated to create a video introduction, setting the tone for the occasion.

Our young participants displayed their artistic prowess through various forms, such as visual arts, poetry, dance, music, and speeches. With a virtual audience spanning the state and region, the performers received enthusiastic support and appreciation.

State Senior Knight Kaleb Todd and State Gleaner Matron Tylah Spencer skillfully hosted the event, while our youth leaders demonstrated passion and professionalism in directing the program. The festivities kicked off at 9 am with a virtual party, featuring an electrifying performance by DJ A-Selecta. Attendees couldn’t help but groove along, either in their seats or on their feet.

The program continued with an exciting virtual scavenger hunt, fostering friendly competition between our Knights and Gleaners. Our special guest, actor, author, and professor Dr. James Williams, a former KOP, delivered an empowering message about resisting peer pressure and placing trust in God. Dr. Williams also engaged in a lively Q&A session with our audience.

The talent showcase, featuring our Knights and Gleaners, was nothing short of exceptional. Their artistic expressions in various forms truly captured the essence of their remarkable abilities. To everyone’s delight, the Coastal Region Supervisors and Advisors surprised the audience with their own creative contributions of poetry, song, and rap.

The event also included three entertaining rounds of Coastal Region Jeopardy, with questions spanning both contemporary culture and historical topics, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
We are immensely proud of our youth’s outstanding performances and their courage to share their talents. The high level of participation and exceptional talent displayed was truly inspiring. There were 29 youth who participated in the showcase. Each will receive a cash prize as a token of appreciation.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all parents, supervisors, advisors, and supporters who have invested time and effort in nurturing our youth’s talents. We also appreciate the unwavering support from our Grand Youth Leaders and Officers – Grand Knight Director Robert Hassell, Grand Gleaner Youth Department Directress Beverly Richardson, Grand Worthy Matron Marshal P. Valentine, and Grand Master Daniel “DT” Thompson.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in making this event a resounding success!
