On Saturday, March 11th, 2023, all roads lead to Oxford, NC in celebration of our Piedmont Regional Day Showcase. With more than 100 Piedmont Region members in attendance, the day opened Track & Field Events. Our youth participants were at the start line ready to compete, with runner bibs pinned and gave it their all as they crossed the finish line. Numerous victories were celebrated with many leaving with medals worn in pride.
We resumed events inside which were jointly led by our State Master Knight, Kaleb Todd and State Gleaner Matron, Tylah Spencer. A special thanks to Past Grand Worthy Patron, Reginald McClenton and Gleaner Kendall McClenton for flawlessly managing our audio needs for the duration of the event. The beautiful sound of the Piedmont jointly singing The Negro National Anthem: “Lift Every Voice and Sing” filled the gym. Afterwhich, State Knight Treasurer, Sir Knight Britton Warren of Charles “Chuck” Hunter, Council 206 introduced our motivational speaker, Mr. Travis Fowles. As the atmosphere was filled with encouragement, purple pom poms, cheers and applause filled the air as many youth members showcased their talents. The events of the day were captured by photo, video and interviews led by our Piedmont Youth Media Team, led by State Junior Knight, Sir Knight Kysaan Hobson of Charles “Chuck” Hunter, Council 206, Gleaner Danielle Emerson of Starlites of Odessa, Branch 188 and Gleaner Peyton Roland of Gleaming Stars of Ruth, Branch 80.

In addition to celebrating the victories of our youth, we were successful in our joint service event by filling the back of a truck bed with non-perishable donations to support our state initiative to collect Food Pantry donations. Thank you, Brother Mike Hicks for transporting the donations on behalf of the Piedmont Region.
Our adult leaders walked away as winners too because of prizes awarded from our 50/50 and Smart TV raffle. We concluded the day with a Piedmont group photo and fellowship over lunch. A special thanks each District for committing to donating items to ensure a successful event. District 27 did an amazing job hosting and ensuring that our meal needs were met and exceeded. Thank you, Sister Karen Rease for serving as the liaison for these efforts. Brother Mike Hicks and Brother Ronnie Thornton, as always, we appreciate your top-notch skills on the grill.
